SAREPTA - using space in education

SAREPTA, ”Using Space in Education”, is an Internet-based offering for teachers and pupils in primary and secondary schools. It deals principally with topics in geography, the natural sciences and environmental studies.

SAREPTA’s principal offering of Earth observation images and information has been extended to cover satellite communication and navigation, as well as the Sun and Sun-Earth interaction.

SAREPTA offers up-to-date satellite images, relevant information, educational examples, software, lexicons and relevant links. It is interactive, so users can ask questions, discuss topics and search for schools to co-operate with.

SAREPTA has been developed by the Norwegian Space Centre jointly with the Tromsø Satellite Station, with support from the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research (UFD).

As at 1st January 2003, NAROM assumed responsibility for the operation and development of SAREPTA.
