Norway and The European Space Agency (ESA)

The Norwegian space industry sector expands principally through participation in ESA programmes.

Presens, an R&D company, has developed a high-pressure and temperature sensor for satellites and for the petroleum industry.

The Norwegian Space Centre works together with sector companies to boost their chances of being awarded ESA programme contracts.

The NSC supervises contracting and allocates national funding for business development.
Selection criteria
Norwegian space activities are primarily based on developing and securing long-term industry contracts and other activities, and on meeting national user and scientific needs. Companies are selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Leader in its sector or field, with a proven technology base and marketing ability
  • Potential for appreciable spinoff effects in space and non-space sectors
  • Motivation and commitment
  • Motivation and commitment
