Programmes

The Norwegian Space Centre has an application programme to support user, developer and business tests of the potentials offered by Earth observation satellites.

In addition to selected projects, two programmes have priority:

SatHav – a national maritime programme for using satellite Earth observation data. NSC took the initiative to set up SatHav in order to co-ordinate a national effort to offer public users the opportunity of cost-effective use of satellite data in marine mapping, monitoring and warning. SatHav involves principal space sector actors and is scheduled for 2003 through 2005.

SatNat – a joint programme with the Directorate for Environmental Management for using the abilities of Earth observation satellites to rapidly acquire information for management of natural resources and biological diversity. Together with existing data sets, SatNat data will be analysed in a Geographic Information System to produce information useful in management and business. The programme started in 2001 and is scheduled to be active to the end of 2005.
